This two-year project continued to deliver twice weekly drop-in sessions for unemployed men aged 45 years and above in Redcar, Cleveland, the majority of whom were former steelworks employees. Activities included sports activities and volunteering in the community with active volunteering groups. Two further weekly drop-in sessions were added to the project, providing social activities for local people aged 65 years and above who were at risk of isolation. Sessions included walking, chair exercise bingo, quizzes, and attending sports events, the cinema and shows alongside a buddy from the steering committee. The project was shaped by this committee who continued to shape it going forward with input from all participants.
