The project will provide a volunteer gardening service to local residents who are unable to do the work themselves due to their age or disability. Volunteers may have mental health issues, be unemployed, isolated or have low self-esteem. There will be a garden buddy team visiting which will provide service users with human interaction, team building and companionship activities. They will also look to reduce anxiety and worry, improving health and wellbeing.

This project will deliver a volunteer-based assisted gardening project to older people who aren't able to maintain their gardens. Older people will be able to book Garden Buddies volunteers to tend a garden on an ongoing basis and make more significant amendments to a garden to allow the older person to maintain it themselves. A typical gardening session will last about two hours and will involve a team of between two and five buddies working under the supervision of a project worker.

This will be done through the purchase of a community bus which will be used for transport, advice and exhbitions. Specialist services will include debt management, benefits and employment advice. The bus will double as a transport service taking people to hard to reach services. The bus will include a confidential area, info display and internet access.
