The funding will be used to to support adults with learning disabilities access their environmental centre and activities in South Somerset. In addition to staff salaries and resources this grant will improve the physical facilities by making them more accessible and inclusive for learners. This includes:• Providing a new toilet block with an accessible toilet. The visitor centre has an easy access toilet but it is often in use by school groups. They have a portaloo block but it is in poor condition and has steep steps which make it unsuitable for adults with mobility issues.• Providing a new covered workshop space that can be used for a range of craft and maintenance activities. This will also enable additional activities during poor weather to be provided.

Carymoor is an environmental education and nature conservation charity. We aim to enrich people?s lives by providing outstanding outdoor learning opportunities at our unique nature reserve. We want our visitors to be inspired to live more sustainably and to feel connected to the natural world. Our services include: - Environment education to schools: We offer environmentally-themed activity days at our visitor centre and nature reserve. Schools come to us from Somerset and the wider region. This has been Carymoor's primary function since the charity was formed in 1998. Our aim is to encourage children to adopt sustainable lifestyles and to encourage schools to embed sustainability into their core ethos.

Carymoor has transformed 75 acres of capped landfill into a species-rich nature reserve where visitors can connect with nature and learn about living sustainably. We want to extend the benefits of our inspirational site to new audiences, boosting wildlife and the health and wellbeing of our visitors.Project aims:Nature conservation and restoration:Create a 10.9ha mosaic of woodland/scrub connecting several fragmented copses to support the globally threatened NightingaleRestore 0.4ha of wetland habitat to support several UK priority speciesRestore 230m of ancient hedgerow to support the nationally rare Brown HairstreakNature based solutions:Our objectives contribute to UK climate change mitigation targets through carbon sequestration and support many priority species to adapt to climate change by developing networks for nature.Connecting people with nature:Increase conservation volunteering, targeted at people who are rurally isolated, needing to improve physical and mental health, or disadvantaged.Improve access for visitors with new heritage walking routes.Enable 30 schools from deprived wards to connect with nature through our Wild Days OutOur project will create 2 posts and retain 3 existing posts. All licenses / agreements are in place to start immediately.

We want to run a new volunteer group for people who need to improve their health and wellbeing, enabling them to connect with nature and learn new conservation skills.
