The funding will be used to continue its work with the Somali community in L8 around FGM (Female Genital Mutilation) and general advice guidance and support with the cost-of-living crisis. The ‘Our Voices’ project will provide advice and intervention support around Female Genital Mutilation (FGM). Specifically it will fund the following activities over three years: • 8x one-to-one FGM support sessions and 8x one-to-one sessions per week offering confidential counselling advice and practical early help support within a safe space for women/girls.• 2x FGM group-based sessions for women tackling broad issues around FGM e.g. legal issues safeguarding long term health implications etc. and 2x group-based sessions where relevant involving health professionals. • 1x session per week specifically engaging with men from BME communities to involve them in campaigning against FGM as a harmful practice and develop a greater understanding and awareness of the issue of sexual misconduct.• Weekly drop-in and surgery support to help service users and the wider community tackle key current and emerging issues in particular with regards household income in light of cost of living increases. This will increase understanding and knowledge of cost-saving measures sources of support and linking to external agencies with advocacy where needed. * A proportion of time for other Sessional Work provided within the Centre that connects these service-users to other activities. (e.g. sexual health mental health sessions) and other Centre-based social/recreational activities.
