The project will increase volunteering through the development of FCWA’s Volunteer Hub and will relieve chronic loneliness for survivors of domestic abuse through outreach support including a weekly peer support group in Blackpool. New Connections provides a pathway for survivors of domestic abuse to recover from abuse with peer support and progress into volunteering.

85% of service users accessing the Silver Recovery Pathway will feel safer. Safety is paramount and is the priority across every FCWA service. FCWA recognises that risk is fluid and can change. Many Domestic Homicide Reviews indicate the victim was either not known to services or only standard risk and therefore services for standard and Medium victims are important to ensure that victims do not fall through the gaps. By increasing safety with an individual safety plan for every service user and an increased understanding of abuse and recovery through FCWA's specialist support and Recovery Programme, service users will experience improved health and well being. After support 85% will feel less isolated. Isolation is a key tactic used by perpetrators of domestic abuse to ensure that abuse is undetected and the victim remains under their control with no support network in place. The project will reduce isolation for older women by supporting them individually and providing a network of peer support through the specialist open sessions. This will also meet the third objective of the Tampon Tax Community Fund, to build social networks by connecting with other women in the same situation. Service users will also have the opportunity to participate in service user forums and a service user subcommittee to have a voice in the development of the service going forward. Without this service, older victims of abuse in Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre may remain trapped in an abusive relationship without any support or hope of changing their situation. This project will give these 'hidden victims' of abuse a clear pathway to a life free from abuse.

This project will build on current support for victims of domestic abuse who are at risk of harm from a current or former partner. It will provide one to one support through Independent Domestic Violence Advisors (IDVA) who focus on particular groups in the community. For instance, there will be an IDVA for male victims, one for women over 50 and another for people from the BAME community. This ensures that tailored support is available for anyone who might need it in the Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre area.

Young people in disadvantaged and transient coastal towns such as Blackpool can be particularly vulnerable to child sexual exploitation. Flyde Coast Women's Aid will provide awareness raising and support for children and young people, particularly those who are at greater risk of becoming involved in exploitative situations (such as those who have gone missing from home or who are not in mainstream school). It will provide 1-1 and group support for children and young people who have already experienced exploitation to help them to recover and build resilience. The project will also provide training for professionals. Ultimately, the project aims to help young people to stay safe.
