This funding will be used by Sunnyside Rural Trust to provide horticultural and rural skills-based training activity and real work experience to vulnerable adults. The funding will be used to develop existing services for 150 adults with learning disabilities and increase provision for people with autism older people with dementia and people with mental health issues caused by isolation and exacerbated by Covid19. The project will help people to reach their potential become more independent improve their mental and emotional wellbeing and become less isolated.

The key issues for our CEV trainees are loneliness/isolation and wellbeing (physical and mental). Whilst we have remained open, a large number of our trainees have had to stay home. We have been offering engagement activities and virtual support. It is now time for people to begin the transition back into their community. We are finding that there have been a number of consequences to being at home for long periods e.g. severe anxiety, loss of skills, deterioration in family relationships due to the strain of Covid-19 and a decline in confidence as well as in their physical health.
