Objectives

Edinburgh's Festival of Ireland's objects are: (a) the advancement of the arts, heritage and culture through: (i) identifying, encouraging, promoting and' profiling Irish culture, in Edinburgh and the surrounding area. (ii) promoting and supporting interest and involvement in Irish culture throughout the wider community. (iii) inaugurating, promoting, co-ordinating and developing Edinburgh's Festival of Ireland, an annual celebration of the historical and cultural connections'. between Ireland and the Edinburgh area. (b) the advancement of community development through: (i) promoting community cohesion, within Edinburgh and the surrounding area, for local people with Irish, ancestry, more recent arrivals from Ireland and wider community. (ii) providing an information resource to aid both local people with Irish ancestry and more recent arrivals to improve their lives and reduce or eliminate feelings of isolation, loneliness or disadvantage.
