Analysis by Giving is Great

Positives:

  • There has been reasonable growth in spending over the last 3 years relative to the previous period
  • The Board appears to be well diversified in terms of gender and dynamic in terms of composition

Regulatory & Governance issues to consider:

  • Although this charity works with volunteers it does not have a Volunteer Management policy
  • There are 13 trustees whereas the Charities Commission recommends a maximum of 12
  • Over half the Board have joined recently

Financial issues to consider:

  • This charity has substantial assets and unrestricted reserves of £36,226,286 available, equivalent to 46 months of spending and so may not be able to utilise additional funding
  • On several occasions in recent years income has been less than spending
  • Fundraising costs are high relative to funds raised
