In Birchwood we operate under the working name of The Church of the Transfiguration, our main activity is EAT a weekly Community Cafe serving a hot meal to low income and isolated people, this is usually funded by donations from those who attend the cafe. The Cafe is currently closed, but many of our service users are struggling financially and/or confined to home because of Covid-19, this project will deliver food parcels to those individuals/families in most need in Birchwood at this time. The grant funding will pay for essential food and hygiene items to be included in these food parcels. This will significantly impact the most deprived in our community who regularly rely on surplus supermarket food, which is currently in low supply due to the closure of usual collection points and the short supply of food in supermarkets.
