This two-year project enables older people aged 50+ to work together and learn new skills by producing a community newsletter highlighting positive stories about the local neighbourhood, as well as take part in weekly workshops to support them to use new technology and build job and interview skills. The project is aimed at all community members aged 50+ who are unemployed / low waged and living in Pleck, a borough of Walsall. The project provides an opportunity to get out of the house and make new friends and helps participants to feel happier and gain confidence and self-esteem. It is hoped that members will form their own project committee and the group will eventually become self-sustaining.

This is continuation funding for a project run from the WBPS community centre which provides a number of activities for people of all ages, including sessions on CV writing, searching and applying for jobs and interview skills. There is also advice and information on subjects such as nutrition, health and fitness, sexual health, drugs, alcohol and smoking. Homework help, exam improvement, and help with college applications is also on offer. Local people can also volunteer to become mentors.
