MEMORY ACTION GROUP

Memory Action Group is there to help relieve the needs and to promote and protect the good health of people affected by dementia and their family and carers living in the Wakefield district and surrounding areas, using games, cognitive therapy, quizzes, singing, crafting, day trips, social experiences and any other activities and support as the trustees deem fit.

Delivered during the groupÂ's weekly drop-in sessions at West Wakefield Methodist Church, a coach will deliver a total of 48 chair-based sessions, set to take place twice a month over a two-year period. These activities will include exercise and fitness, bowls and boccia. In addition, the project will provide four Â‘Get Set GoalÂ' sessions, a service delivered by healthcare students from the University of Huddersfield to help improve health and wellbeing. These sessions will include health checks, lifestyle and prevention advice.
