    NORFOLK AND NORWICH HOSPITALS CHARITY

    Mission:

To support even better care at our NHS hospitals
    Analysis by Giving is Great

    Positives:

    • The charity has received modest backing from a grant maker recently
    • This charity has received considerable income from legacies in recent years
    • There has been reasonable growth in spending over the last 3 years relative to the previous period
    • Fundraising costs are low relative to funds raised

Regulatory & Governance issues to consider:

    • This charity uses a corporate trustee

    Financial issues to consider:

    • This charity has substantial assets and unrestricted reserves of £9,369,139 available, equivalent to 30 months of spending and so may not be able to utilise additional funding
    • On several occasions in recent years income has been less than spending
    Comment by the Charity:
The charity does hold substantial assets, however these are held in designated funds for each area of specialty within the NHS Trust, including Cardiology, Cancer services, Orthopaedics, Eye department, Theatres, Wards, etc so additional funding can always be used, particularly to support areas of the hospitals that do not receive direct donations from patients, such as Radiology, Education and Training, Emergency Department, etc.
