Young people experiencing trauma arising from abuse, domestic violence or neglect often encounter emotional and behavioural problems. This can lead to a withdrawal or exclusion from school, difficulty in relating to others or making and maintaining friendships which can lead to isolation. Dandelion Time in Kent has a strong track record in working with young people and with this grant it will provide therapeutic support using practical farming and natural crafts as tools to help them overcome trauma. Young people will recover and thrive and grow in self-esteem and confidence. They will learn new skills leading to a more hopeful and positive outlook.

This project aims to support children aged 7-16, where the child has significant behavioural and emotional difficulties (often the result of trauma or abuse), aiming tp help them to overcome their difficulties while providing support for carers. Individual Therapeutic group farm sessions will be delivered, including animal care, gardening, growing and cooking food, and creative projects. These will help children to express their feelings in non-destructive ways and develop trust.
