SUPPORT AND LOVE VIA EDUCATION INTERNATIONAL

S.A.L.V.E. provides Street Outreach, Halfway Homes, counselling, Drug Rehab, care and medicine, Family Reunification and Educational Support for children who were living on the streets. We raise awareness of children living on Ugandan streets and their rights. We work to address the problems in local communities that drive children to the streets i.e. through Business Training and mentoring.

The main drug used on the streets is ....more Drug addiction is a major problem amongst the 8000 children living on the streets in Uganda and is a barrier to them accessing services and leaving the streets. The main drug used on the streets is Mafuta (aeroplane fuel) which is inhaled through the mouth. Mafuta is cheaper to buy than food, and is readily available in urban settings. However it seriously impairs children's health, is highly addictive, and can be lethal.This research builds on previous research into global best practice in rehabilitation and cure. It will form the basis for a major new intervention to provide holistic care and support for young people trying to get off Mafuta. It will also add to global knowledge of it.
