We offer bingo, chair exercise with a qualified instructor and raffle tickets and raffle prizes. Hot and cold drinks available, lunch club a hot meal/dessert, if a members has a birthday we sing happy birthday to them and buy a small cake for them. Three times a year we offer day trips one being by the sea-side, we also do a Xmas buffet at the church and book one off site locally or jointly with another group who uses a hotel.

As a food bank we are unable to rely solely on donations and would therefore welcome ongoing financial help. We also wish to expand our area of support as outlined below.

They can take part in games and activities that help to stimulate the brain i.e. Count Down, Play Your Cards Right, Skittles, Bingo, Dominoes and many more. The group meet for two hours tea/coffee cakes/biscuits are provided. The group enjoys celebrating historical events at the church with a buffet laid on. They can also enjoy several day trips out sea side attractions, garden centres and historical places where they can have lunch or an evening meal.

It provides a day centre 4 days a week for vulnerable older people in the area, this helps with their social participation and supports carers. This is followed by Gentle seated exercise which along with our monthly session with Salus promotes a healthier lifestyle.

07/06/2023 £10,000 SANKOFA HEALING CREATIVE ARTS CIC We are proposing to engage with Neurodivergent Autistic black African, Caribbean heritage male carers, fathers, students, unemployed and professionals who reside in the Ladywood borough. The men will be invited to give their personal consent to actively engage in the weekly activities. The project will consist of holistic culturally sensitive drama therapy, dramaturgy and theatre arts sessions alongside graphic design and performing arts workshops. This wrap around service will focus on bridging the disparities of living with autism, long term disabilities, gender and ethnicity. We will select 14 males from 14 families aged 18 to up to 55+ years and provide our participants with a confidential safe space to give their expert voice on autism in the home, community, education and work settings.

To set up one gated area and have high raised vegetable boxes for residents to grow produce and a bench for the residents to use for breaks or socialising.

We will deliver hot food in hot bags delivered on 2 trikes twice a week.

The project will provide a tailored experience rather than adopting a “one-size-fits-all” approach – this is because learning difficulties are likely to be placed on a wide spectrum, which in turn will impact day to day life in a different way. Given the demographic characteristics of the local population, it is likely that the majority of our beneficiaries will have an ethnic minority background, some of whom speak English as a second language. This will add further socio-cultural and language barriers which are detrimental towards employment prospects.

We'll run a collection club which brings collects participants from the Hotels to the sessions. This will include covering travel costs – most of our participants have no recourse to public funds which limits access to community resources which are out-with a walking radius.

Our proposed 10 month project aims primarily to engage with citizens aged 18-49 with disabilities and long-term health conditions that find it difficult to access physical spaces, or don’t have the confidence to "join in" face to face groups.  Stitch is a calming activity and a fantastic skill and hobby for ongoing wellbeing.

We would like to work with this group to develop a partnership to find out more about their community and how this project could support creativity, confidence, and general wellbeing. Our starting point, will be by helping them to create journals or sketchbooks, introducing them to new stitch techniques and other mixed media techniques including printing and felt making that they could use to record their ideas. We would like this project to span several months, giving us chance to get to know the group well and to respond to their needs.

The men’s mental health support group would provide a space for men to be vulnerable about their struggles with the support of experienced staff and create space for them to learn new skills. There will be a particular focus on activities that involve physical exercise as we know that exercise helps improve mental health and thus improve quality of life.
