Transport in this very rural area is a real challenge; there are very limited buses and journey times are long. People that use our services really value the opportunity to meet locally; get information and support with their mental health from our Community Worker and other group members, meet others who have experienced similar things, build new friendships, reduce isolation, feel part of their community, increase confidence and self-worth, learn coping mechanism and build mental health resilience - all built around a social activity i.e. art / craft / talk / cookery / trips.The groups are for women who are facing a crisis with their mental health but also women who are much further forward in their recovery journey and want to maintain their good mental health and continue the relationships they have formed. Preventative work is also key.Both groups are already in existence and they continue to be very popular. We wish to continue and build on their success, to expand the range of activities and services offered, to attract new members and support women more successfully, by bringing in art and craft tutors for creative therapies and provide more staff facilitation time to bring in more of a focus on personal recovery and self-management.
