Idea of the project is to improve capacity of TFB to provide services that protect its targeted group from consequences of the welfare reform. A research conducted by the main founder of the TFB revealed that Arabic speakers are constrained by their poor language skills and confidence to access resources, and that they experienced multiple sanctions because they did not understand letters from Job center. She started to support people individually; however demand is in steady increase. Therefore, we would like to be more professional. We want to build skills and knowledge of a trustee, two people (a women and a man) from the community, so that they deliver one-to-one support services in voluntary base while we raise funds to employ them to sustain the service. The trained people will be job-seekers who have potential to work as support worker. First they will attend a two-days training in “Benefits for non-benefit adviser” conducted by Child Poverty Action Group. Then they will apply what they would learnt under supervision of a trustee. They will plan, develop workshop materials and one-to-one support stuff; run drop-in advice once a week for 20 weeks, and run 4 workshops for the community. Participants of the workshops will be 20 women and 20 men, 10 per each workshop. Aim of the workshop is to improve knowledge about the welfare system and how to access it. Two volunteers will be recruited and trained to support delivering of the workshops. The project will be distinguished by that it “helps people to help themselves”. It will improve capacity of a vulnerable community in essential issue in their lives. Furthermore, it will improve confidence and employability of four job-seekers, and increase likelihood of employment of at least two of them. Not least it will heighten profile of the organisation.
