Objectives

4.1 The relief of those in need as a result of: 4.1.1 suffering and distress caused by serving or having served in the armed forces(including active service in the Territorial Army) or as members of the merchant marine (in times of war) ('Veterans') and their families, particularly through the provision of advice and support. and 4.1.2 unemployment, particularly through the provision of necessary support and resources to assist in accessing employment, training or volunteering opportunities. 4.2 The advancement of education through: 4.2.1 raising public awareness of issues affecting the lives of Veterans. and 4.2.2 improving access to training for Veterans, with the object of improving their prospects of employment. 4.3 The relief of those in need and the advancement of health, and in particular the mental and emotional wellbeing, of: 4.3.1 those suffering from post-combat and/or conflict trauma and stress, particularly through providing post conflict support, advice and information to promote and improve physical and mental health. 4.3 .2 individuals resident in Scotland who are suffering from mental and emotional trauma as result of a family member being killed or wounded in military service, through the provision of advice and support. 4.4 The provision of recreational, sport, leisure and social facilities, or the organisation of recreational activities with the object of improving the conditions of life for Veterans. 4.5 The relief of those in need through providing help and assistance to serving, former serving personnel and merchant marine (in time of war), when dealing with other agencies on issues which shall include (but shall not be limited to) pensions, housing, benefits, employment, and legal matters, particularly through the operation of drop-in centres to provide help and facilities for individuals and groups.
