The programme was inspired by the Freedom Programme, the Duluth Model as well as Polish domestic abuse prevention programmes. The sessions will explore domestic abuse dynamics, including its cultural implications; reasons why women experience it; finding ways out of it; red flags and early warning signs in new relationships. The group will create a safe space for sharing experiences and learning from them. We are expecting the women to be at different stages, as for dealing with the effects of DA, some of them could gain strength from the experiences of those who already managed to break the cycle, some might become even more empowered by their ability to help others to do their first steps. There are going to be also activities designed to boost the participants' self-esteem and confidence, deal with the effects of trauma, stress and anxiety (dealing with one's inner critic, stress relieving mandala colouring, breathing and yoga sessions), and help them plan their future. We are hoping that at least 60% of the participants' health and wellbeing will improve. They will be less isolated (70%), more aware of the mechanisms of the domestic abuse (60%) and feel empowered to look for help when needed (80%). They will report being able to create healthy relationships with others (60%) and manage better with the ups and downs of the everyday life (60%). A participant of our previous group said: the group was very important and I hope it will be continued. I liked that I could talk about my experience and not be afraid to be judged. I learned a lot how the domestic abuse works and what impact it has on us.
