This group will use the funding to continue to run its family groups which have recently expanded to meet demand with three weekly groups one in Stranraer one in Sorbie and one in Newton Stewart. The groups promote good parenting skills and bonding and provide practical and emotional support for families. The target for support is parents of children up to three years of age with interventions limited to one year to manage numbers. The project will work with 75-80 parents and 100 children over 3 years and involve 15-20 volunteers.

This group will use the funding to continue delivering family support groups in Newton Stewart, Stranraer and Sorbie. The groups will support parents with pre-nursery aged children to develop positive parenting skills and increase their knowledge of issues such as behaviour, routines, health and wellbeing. A range of activities will also be offered at the groups including storytelling, gardening and a programme of guest speakers.

The project aims to reduce the isolation and improve the lives of vulnerable families who have a child under the age of five. Children from vulnerable and disadvantaged families will be supported through a wide range of activities at home and in a group setting to create stronger bonds and improve their social, emotional and physical development. The grant will fund salaries, recruitment, travel, equipment, food, family outings, toys, books and general overheads.
