As we will be promoting the use of the project in conjuction with individual care plans for women childen and young people at refuge we will hope to see a reduction in flashbacks and nightmares, anxiety and depression and a reduction in hyperviglilance. Many women are too frightened to go to bed when they come into refuge with a negative impact on their physical and mental well being. Only when they are able to feel safe and allow their body to relax do we see this slowly begin to change. On the positive side we hope to see an increase in self esteem, self confidence, improved sleeping patterns and a sense of safety around their own body and physical boundaries. In conjuction we hope to see an improvement in family relationships as baby massage, relaxation technics etc will result in a more harmonious and less stressful living environment and assist the family to recover from the abuse. Group sessions on how to give a hand massage for example will improve self confidence and learning new skills and sharing the experience will improve women's sense of well being and part of a wider group will break down feelings of isolation and loneliness.
