    Objectives

The purpose of NIR is to provide, on call, an inshore and inland water body lifeboat search and rescue service, to protect life and property under threat from the sea, inland water, flooding and other water related incidents in the Upper Solway and surrounding area. To this end Nith Inshore Rescue maintains craft which are launched when requested to do so by HM Coastguard co-ordinating Centre. We work closely with a range of partners including Police Scotland, Scottish Fire & Rescue Service, RNLI, and local Mountain Rescue Teams. In dire local emergency Nith Inshore Rescue's craft can be used on an independent basis.
