Objectives

4.1 To provide a temporary refuge or refuges for women and their children (if any) and to include young people between the ages of sixteen and eighteen where the women have suffered abuse (mental, physical or sexual) in their home or within a relationship. 4.2 To offer support, advice and help to any women and their children and to include young people between the ages of sixteen and eighteen who ask for help (and whether they are refuge residents) and to offer support and advice to any women and children including young people between the ages of sixteen and eighteen who have left a temporary refuge. 4.3 To encourage women to determine their own futures. 4.4 To encourage statutory authorities and other agencies to recognise their obligations legal and otherwise towards women and their children to include young people between the ages of sixteen and eighteen and their representatives in regard to the abuse of women and the prevention thereof. 4.5 To encourage research into the causes, the prevention and relief of suffering and abuse of women.
