This project will help fulfil three objectives of the Tampon Tax funding in that those who access this will have improved mental health and wellbeing and increased confidence. This will happen as a result of individuals accessing 2- 3 1-1- sessions soon after the point of referral which will focus on providing practical skills to improve individuals ability to cope with the impact of their experiences, which will be reinforced during the group-work sessions. The group work element of the project will help reduce social isolation and increase womens feelings of connectedness. Isolation is a key tactic used by perpetrators of abuse, group work has been shown to help women to recognize that this isnt something which has just happened to them or that they are to blame for through shared experiences with others. We believe this project will met the following outcomes: Women with experience of domestic abuse will experience increased Health & Wellbeing Women with experience of domestic abuse will feel better connected to their peers and communities Women with experience of domestic abuse will have increased confidence and self-esteem Women with experience of domestic abuse will feel better able to cope with the impact of the abuse Women with experience of domestic abuse will have reduced feelings of guilt and blame Women with experience of domestic abuse will be better able to deal with their feelings
