CARA-FRIEND 

The Company�s objects are specifically restricted to the promotion of equality, diversity and human rights for lesbian, gay and bisexual and transgender people, the advancement of education, the promotion, protection and preservation of physical and mental health and wellbeing and the promotion of the benefit of those inhabitants who are or who may be lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender (hereinafter called �the beneficiaries�) in Northern Ireland hereinafter described as "the area of benefit") without distinction of age, gender, disability, sexual orientation, nationality, ethnic identity, political or religious opinion, by associating the statutory authorities, community and voluntary organisations and the inhabitants in a common effort to advance education and promote diversity with the object of improving the conditions of life for the benefit of the inhabitants and in particular: (a) to relieve the mental and emotional distress of persons who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or who are in doubt about their sexual or gender identity or those who may be affected by, or involved with, such persons by the provision of information, support, help and counselling provided by volunteers and staff working under direction who are selected and prepared to give such information, advice, support, help and counselling; (b) to advance the education of the general public in relation to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender issues, history, and culture; (c) to promote equality and diversity by the elimination of discrimination in relation to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people; 5 (d) to provide for, or co-operate in the establishment, provision, maintenance and management of a centre for use for activities promoted by the Company in the furtherance of its charitable objects; (e) to promote or assist in the co-operation and networking between voluntary and community organisations and individuals engaged in programmes of public education designed to increase public understanding and awareness of lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender people; (f) to advance any other exclusively charitable purpose as the directors, may from time to time, decide in accordance with the law of charity.
