The fund has been set up to support community projects which reduce knife crime and have a positive impact on young people at risk of carrying a knife and committing crime. Bids have been assessed on the extent to which they provide value for money and demonstrate, based on their understanding of knife crime in the local area, that they will achieve at least one of the following key aims:Â? Prevent young people from becoming involved in carrying a knifeÂ? Respond to knife crime in our communitiesÂ? Improve support for knife crime offenders and offer an effective exit strategyÂ? Increase reporting of knife carryingÂ? Help young people to deal with conflict without resorting to violenceÂ? Most victims of domestic abuse have also experienced financial abuse and control by their abuser, often resulting in serious debt and money problems. For many, financial concerns are a barrier to leaving abusive situations. In Suffolk, Anglia Care Trust will provide specialist outreach debt and financial advice, along with budgeting and planning support, to 800 men and women a year who are victims of domestic abuse, helping them to deal with immediate crises, manage debt, maximise benefits and avoid homelessness. It will also help clients to build the confidence, resilience and skills to manage their own finances, leave abusive situations and build new lives free from abuse in the future.
