The project is using funding to offer support for people ageing with HIV in Sussex. The aim is to support people living with HIV to age as well as possible through education advice advocacy and peer support in a non-discriminatory way. The project will help keep people informed with up to date information relating to HIV in order to help manage their physical and emotional health and to address the impact that ageing may have for someone living with HIV.

This is a keyworker role, offering support at home to improve patients access to medication including antiretrovirals and essential day to day supplies, to offer practical support to alleviate low mood, improve physical health and overall wellbeing.

Funding will be used to facilitate their new 24/7 phone line for our HIV patients that are within the at risk group from the Coronavirus. It will also allow them to purchase new laptops to allow for them to host virtual meetings with patients who would otherwise be within the Beacon.

This project will provide support services for HIV+ women in Brighton and Hove, East and West Sussex. The project will deliver one to one structured casework, both on site and at an outreach location with crèche facilities. It will increase the number of day long, peer support group meetings available, inviting speakers for information and guidance, and facilitating group discussion on health and HIV. It will provide training through short courses and individual support with life skills development.
