In addition the organisation has significant expertise in the field which the grant should leverage meaning work can be completed faster and more efficiently than organisations without this background.The organisation proposed has strong networks which have been independently developed: for instance on smoking and mental health, and in midwifery services. The grant will make use of these networks in gathering intelligence to support delivery and dissemination of messages and materials: providing additional value to the work at no additional cost.Finally the NHS is investing significant funds (c£42m this year) in tobacco delivery and this grant will support the best use of this investment: meaning services are set up, achieve outcomes and so reduce health inequalities and improve health.ASH has the following attributes making it the only appropriate recipient for this funding, including its:Ability to act as an independent and honest broker of researched, evidence-based resources and models for reducing tobacco use in smokers at pace and at scale within the required timescales. They ran webinars on the LTP in 2021/22 which were well attended and reviewed by people working on tobacco in the NHS, and can build on this success.National reach with extensive stakeholder groups working to build a smoke free environment in England with particular reach into public health and Local Authority Stop Smoking services, an area NHS services have so far struggled to make links with.Strong networks and a trusted voice in order to ensure delivery, outcomes and evaluation of impact within the timescales provided by LTP commitmentEstablished expertise and connections within Regional Tobacco structures, which mean the regional tobacco aspect of the work can be completed quickly and to a high standard.
