I am writing to offer you a grant of up to £28,000 towards set up costs and a smooth transition of operating models between SoundCity and East Sussex Music education hub. In February 2019 Brighton & Hove Music & Arts (BHMA), as part of Brighton Dome & Festival Limited (BDBF), submitted a tender to operate the East Sussex Music Service in response to East Sussex County Council (ESCC) issuing an Invitation to Tender (ITT).Since that time BDBF have been informed that they are ESCC’s preferred provider and discussions regarding transition are presently ongoing. It has become apparent that there will be significant one-off set up costs for BDBF. This includes obtaining legal advice as the Council has produced a comprehensive set of documents for review.The funding requested will contribute to the overall set-up costs and will also be a key element in enabling BDBF to proceed and support an achievable transition; while maintaining the ongoing operation of two MEHs: SoundCity and East Sussex Music Hub, throughout the transition period.

Funding was provided to to enable the Brighton Youth Orchestra to be mentored by and perform with some students from TrinityLaban.

This project provides music sessions for disadvantaged children living in Brighton, with special educational needs. These sessions will increase their self-belief, confidence and improve well-being.

Towards Our Place, a resident-led community programme of year-round arts activity for local people in Brighton & Hove.

This project is a creative and social learning scheme for vulnerable women aged 13-21 with particularly complex needs within the social care and criminal justice systems. It will help them gain life skills through workshops to enable them to play positive roles in the community, and for the community to better understand them. Workshop sessions will be run by arts professionals and social workers, with the creative output being led by the women supported.
