Key objective: To provide resilience support to farmers and land managers to help them prepare for, and adjust to, the Agricultural Transition by addressing the opportunities it presents and the impacts it could have. The project will also monitor the impact and value for money of this resilience support to inform potential future scale-up plans. The project will take place over 6 months in financial years 19-20 and 20-21 and will be monitored and evaluated on a Âreal-time basis and the results will feed in to consideration of a scale-up of the support from 2020 onwards. The initial stage of the project will provide evidence on the benefits of government-funded interventions to farmers, whether this adds anything to services already being provided by other sources and whether we have provided the right type of support needed.

This project aims to address the issues of access to quality food and environmental sustainability within food supply-chains. We will research, co-design and develop innovative supply-chain solutions to ensure that high-quality, sustainably produced food is available and affordable to all, particularly people on low incomes. We will work with processors and retailers to find innovative ways to get sustainably produced food to communities with less of a mark-up, helping achieve a fairer food system and drive the demand for sustainable farming. We will also research how to scale-up existing local models that bring food more directly from farm to consumer using online technology, shortening supply chains enormously.
