THE PHOENIX GROUP FOR DEAF CHILDREN AND YOUNG ADULTS

We support and empower deaf children and young adults from birth up to the age 30, and their families, who are predominantly based in Hertfordshire and the surrounding areas, through the provision of:Recreational and leisure activities; training opportunities; one to one and group support; Deaf Awareness, Sign Language and other courses.

£1,750	18/08/2021	We would target British Sign Language Users by providing signed information on the vaccine, its importance, the procedures for booking, the side effects etc. This would involve our BSL Interpreter ....more We would target British Sign Language Users by providing signed information on the vaccine, its importance, the procedures for booking, the side effects etc. This would involve our BSL Interpreter translating the written Government information into BSL and then filming herself signing it. She would then need to edit the videos. This is all time consuming. Our BSL Interpreter is a familiar, friendly face to our members and we think that members will be reassured by the information that she is providing. We would send it out to all of our members through Mailchimp and also promote it on social media. We would also provide a vaccine buddy service for any of our members who require support to get the vaccine. This may be by providing transport, communication at the test centre or just having company if they are anxious about the procedure. This will be for BSL and non BSL users.
