It provides entertaining and educational events in the library for the residents of Adlington and all the surrounding area. These events include talks, courses, evening events, and children's events. FoAL also assists the library's staff with organising and advertising their events.
Analysis by Giving is Great

Positives:

  • This charity has been very successful in attracting volunteers relative to its size
  • There have been no material income shortfalls in recent years
  • A significant proportion of recent income was derived from major grant makers including the Government

Regulatory & Governance issues to consider:

  • Although this charity works with volunteers it does not have a Volunteer Management policy
  • This charity does not have a Conflict of Interests policy
  • The Board is predominantly female
  • The Board composition appears to be rather static

Financial issues to consider:

  • A PartB annual return has not been required and so detailed financial information is not available from the online data
  • Income has been volatile recently but spending has been maintained
