Berwick Youth Project (BYP) runs a youth club, an information and advice service and a supported accommodation project in Berwick Upon Tweed. Until 2016, it had 11 bed spaces to accommodate homeless young people from the town. Following the end of a long-term lease on a large property it managed in the centre of Berwick, BYP is reduced to using the six bed spaces it has on the first floor of its purpose built headquarters.The grant to BYP will enable them to continue to employ a support worker. Their role is to support existing tenants, help them to move into rented accommodation and help the increasing numbers of young people that cannot be accommodated in the centre to find and keep rented accommodation in other properties in Berwick.
