Health and well-being is a broad category which includes mental, emotional, physical and sexual health. It is expected that young women (aged 10-18) will benefit from the following outcomes: Online resources: - A safe social media forum where they can share experiences, seek support, ask advice and connect with other young women. - A web-based information point where they can access guidance about health, contact details for support organisations and information about when services such as provision of free contraception etc. are available. A safe space to meet: - Social contact improves mental and emotional well-being and allows exchange of experiences and information. This is empowering, educating and reduces feelings of isolation which can arise if people assume they are alone facing a certain issue. Workshops (free at the point of use): - Covering a range of subjects such as healthy eating, exercise, improving self-esteem, safe emotional expression, self-care, healthy lifestyles and reproductive health. They could include specific sessions on being a young mum, a young carer, self-harm, alcoholism, smoking/vaping, eating disorders, drug use etc. if these needs became apparent. Peer support: - Young women receiving peer support training would be empowered to make a difference through identifying other young women who could benefit, bringing them into the project and giving them a voice in shaping provision. Helping each other boosts self-esteem, improves social cohesion and is a useful skill. - Young women being supported would feel less isolated, receive advice and information from someone in a similar situation to them (rather than someone official) and be inspired to support others. Distribution of free sanitary products: - To enable everyone to experience their menstrual cycle without fear of being unprepared. Free contraception and sexual health advice: - Ensuring that young women are confident, informed and protected in their sexual activity.
