This funding will support 360 Giving to build on the success and ambition for data informed decision-making to be a central element of grant-making. 360 Giving are a registered charity and Private Limited Company by Guarantee they support organisations to publish their grant data in an open standardised way to help people understand and use the data to support decision-making and learning across the charitable giving sector. 360 Giving began in 2014 when the first steering group met since then they have developed as a charity creating free online tools and services to publish grants data and provide support and training on how to use that data. The number or organisations who publish data is increasing year on year with 225 organisations currently publishing over £170bn of grants data on the 360 Giving website. The project aims to ensure limited financial resources are deployed effectively supporting the strategic distribution of grant funds to reach where it is most needed to support communities.

This project aims to improve decision making and transparency in the voluntary and community sector by publishing grant-making data from funders, foundations and trusts as standardised open data. There will be outreach and engagement work with a range of representatives from the sector, including boards and trustees, grant managers, policy advisors and researchers. The group will develop two tools to encourage take up and use of data, and run a series of pilots to ensure different user needs are being met.
