We work across all Tampon Tax community objectives. We seek to ensure that young women thrive in the face of inequality & disadvantage by offering the skills, networks, experiences and confidence to become active & independent in their city. Instead of being derailed by vulnerability & past trauma, through access to wellbeing workshops as well as pastoral care and therapy, participants will place value on the mental and physical wellbeing of themselves and their loved ones. We don't view our participants as burdens or shoehorn them into any old job, we see & place them as truly important beings & encourage them to think big and experiment, we instill a confidence that makes them less scared of trying, even with the prospect of failure. We're proud that in a city as divided as London, with much gentrification and visible, growing gaps between rich and poor, black and white, that our way of working creates relationships and dialogue between people from totally different walks of life, whilst creating strong bonds between women who have similar backstories. Our programme creates a sisterhood for women who otherwise experience social isolation and social anxiety. We also engage professionals from a range of sectors to come together and work closely with women creating a greater sense of community cohesion and give access to networkable opportunities. Based on past outcomes, we confidently expect that of 25 women who start the programme: 90% will complete it; while 87% will start YMI receiving benefits, only 19% will continue to access them by the end; 82% will secure longterm employment & places in formal education, with some juggling these with their own startup; 82% will report feeling more connected to a new professional and social network; 81% will feel happier and 83% will report significant increases in their confidence.
