Race Equality First Limited will use its £499816 grant to continue the work of the 'Hate and Discrimination Advocacy' project. This will include one-to-one advocacy support and representation community events led by volunteers education and awareness sessions cultural diversity workshops accredited volunteer training and training for both public and civil service organisations. Bydd Race Equality First Limited yn defnyddio ei grant £499816 i barhau â gwaith y prosiect 'Eiriolaeth Casineb a Gwahaniaethu'. The project will provide support and assistance to victims of hate and discrimination and will be delivered across Cardiff Vale of Glamorgan Newport Bridgend Caerphilly Torfaen Merthyr Tydfil Blaenau Gwent Rhondda Cynon Taf Monmouthshire Wrexham and Swansea. Support will be through advice advocacy mediation and representation with the organisation using various methods to engage with communities. These will include peer support groups outreach sessions workshops in schools open days training sessions and a programme of public events. Race Equality First Limited will provide support and assistance to victims of hate and discrimination across Cardiff Vale of Glamorgan Newport Bridgend Caerphilly Torfaen Merthyr Tydfil Blaenau Gwent Rhondda Cynon Taf Monmouthshire and Wrexham. In response to the COVID-19 they are targeting workers in Cardiff and Newport from Black and minority ethnic (BAME) communities in jobs affected by the crisis such as taxi-drivers and restaurant owners with advice and guidance in community languages. This two-year project in Newport, Wales will establish three weekly user-led groups providing social activities for local people from Black and Minority Ethnic communities who currently attend weekly ESOL and IT sessions run by the organisation. The participants requested to set up their own social groups, which aim to reduce loneliness and isolation, increase social networks and cohesion, increase confidence, and empower the people involved. Volunteers and Community Champions will be supported to shape and deliver the activities in response to the needs of local people.

One-to-one counselling, advice & support around mental health issues for 85 BME women aged 18+.Enabling beneficiaries to fulfil their potential by working to address issues at the earliest possible stage & providing a single point of contact to counsel and provide accurate information and listen to the needs of each beneficiary.Timely information and advice to assist in coping with mental health, isolation, depression and from disengaging with/withdrawing from family networks and friends.2. 28 My Space Peer Support Group sessions for women to explore concerns in a non-judgemental environment, learn coping strategies, hear advice from experts, an opportunity to meet others, talk & share in an informal setting.Providing support sessions in a culturally, religiously sensitive environment for women & girls to explore concerns. Bringing diverse communities together to tackle social isolation, depression & improve mental health.Developing a social network, addressing issues and providing information in a sensitive manner where they will not fear stigmatisation. Sessions will enhance wellbeing and confidence to engage with other people outside their own community & networks.Participating in group physical exercise (provided by our MEE in Mind or Sports Project)Join regular trips and excursions in partnership with other REF projects and partner organisationsTraining & skills development to become peer and community leadersUse skills to help other women through difficult periods in their life
