Young unaccompanied asylum seekers and refugees experience abuse and violation in their home countries and face huge disadvantage once in the UK. Many will experience psychological and physical problems and need long term support to overcome the trauma and settle in their new home. The Baobab Centre for Young Survivors in Exile in London works with young refugee and asylum seekers and with this grant it will be able to provide holistic therapeutic support alongside practical help and advocacy. Young people will develop a sense of belonging, build confidence and trust and become more resilient. They will lead less chaotic lives and be helped to settle in their new community in the UK.
