Syrian refugees and asylum seekers are at high risk of human trafficking in areas of Greece and Turkey. Stop the Traffik will use their tested methodology to influence a change in awareness, knowledge and behaviours to reduce trafficking. Social media initiatives are collaboratively created and locally-led, engaging international stakeholders to raise awareness of specific types of exploitation of Syrian refugees & asylum seekers, keeping them safe of human trafficking while making the environment high risk & low profit for traffickers. Local community partners will be identified, worked with, and also trained to recognise potential trafficking situations and how to prevent them.

One of the UK Government?s priorities is to significantly reduce the prevalence of modern slavery in the UK. To achieve this, HMG?s Modern Slavery Strategy sets out objectives to prevent people from becoming victims and to reduce the harm caused by modern slavery through improved victim identification. Alongside this, the Prime Minister?s Modern Slavery Implementation Taskforce agreed a complementary objective to reduce the flow of slavery to the UK through cooperation with the top seven source countries. Lithuania is one of these priority countries and the Home Office, STT and the Lithuanian Government have identified Cambridgeshire as being a high risk area for exploitation of victims from Lithuania
