The UK Womens Fund will deliver support to 27,000 women and girls via awarding funding to 80 small womens organisations and 50 medium-large womens organisations. The Rosa UK and Smallwood Trust consortium will assess grant applications on an open and competitive basis and give funded organisations the best possible chance to avert the current crisis and emerge stronger during the recovery phase of the pandemic.

COVID19 - Rosa will leverage funding from Comic Relief into existing commitments we have from other funders to support organisations with emergency funds to survive and continue operations for small women’s organisations. We are currently focusing our emergency response on:
• Specialist BAME women’s VAWG services (including refuge services)
• BAME services that are not VAWG
• Small wider women’s sector organisations that are in need of emergency funding.

It is proposed that Comic Relief contribute £1m over 24 months to the Justice and Equality Fund (JEF), to be re-granted to organisations in the women & girls sector by Rosa:90% direct re-granting to grassroots W&G organisations across the UK and 10% management fee for re-granting This work aligns well with both strands of our new Gender Justice Strategy –working to eliminate violence and discrimination and doing so through building and resourcing the women’s movement to lead the change.It also aligns with our outcomes, which include both improving the practical condition of women and girls (and the organisations they run), and in challenging the structural conditions which allow for that discrimination and harm
