We expect to meet all three of the Funds objectives but our primary focus will be on building skills and confidence. The outcomes for this objective will be that the women we support will: develop confidence and a sense of belonging through group interaction it will encourage peer support within the group, so developing a sense of camaraderie. It will help them to recognise that they have a contribution to make, both within the group and afterwards in the workplace. begin to recognise their own skills and personal strengths - identifying interests, hobbies, volunteering roles, viable work ideas they would like to pursue; we can support them to understand what is realistic, and what needs to be in place to achieve their goals develop better communication skills - with each other; many of these women do not make friends easily and being in a controlled social environment encourages conversation: with their children we encourage parents to talk to their children. become more independent as young adults we are moving these parents on from our Families Matter group which offers intensive support to parents with pre-school children become more assertive - voice their own thoughts, communicate more effectively. Think more about themselves and what they would like to achieve. improve work-related skills encouraging commitment, punctuality, collaboration, giving & taking feedback. We have run this type of activity in the past and have seen that engagement activities which focus on the women themselves bring about rich personal outcomes for the participants. They have often not had the chance to develop their own personal interests and abilities. This opportunity can be a complete revelation for them that they have skills and interests that matter.
