HOME-START WEST DORSET

Home-Start West Dorset offers support, friendship and practical assistance to families in need or under pressure across the West Dorset and Weymouth and Portland District Council areas that have at least one child below five years of age. Our 3 part time organisers recruit, prepare and support volunteers who then visit families in their own homes to offer parent-to-parent support.
Analysis by Giving is Great

Positives:

  • This charity has been successful in attracting volunteers relative to its size
  • A significant proportion of recent income was derived from major grant makers including the Government
  • The Board appears to be well diversified in terms of gender and dynamic in terms of composition

Regulatory & Governance issues to consider:

  • The Board has little diversity in terms of age

Financial issues to consider:

  • A PartB annual return has not been required and so detailed financial information is not available from the online data
  • On several occasions in recent years income has been less than spending
Established: 16 years
