BEACON (BRADFORD ECUMENICAL ASYLUM CONCERN)

BEACON (Bradford Ecumenical Asylum Concern) was set up out of a shared concern to address the needs and concerns of the many people seeking asylum in the Bradford Metropolitan District and surrounding areas. We provide practical and moral support for people seeking asylum through the BEACON projects: McKenzie Friends (legal support), CHAT (English conversation class) and Hosting (accommodation)
Analysis by Giving is Great

Positives:

  • This charity has been successful in attracting volunteers relative to its size
  • The charity has received modest backing from a grant maker
  • The Board appears to be well diversified in terms of gender and dynamic in terms of composition

Financial issues to consider:

  • A PartB annual return has not been required and so detailed financial information is not available from the online data
  • Income has been volatile and on several occasions in recent years less than spending
Established: 17 years
