This is a development and expansion of a pilot delivered by Home-Start Pendle and Ribble Valley that will work in collaboration with neighbouring Home-Start schemes in East Lancashire. The project will recruit, train and supervise volunteers with parenting experience to support other parents in their own homes. These volunteers will be matched with families referred to the service by professionals and agencies working with school aged children as well as self-referrals.

This project will see an expansion to existing Home Start services available in Pendle and Ribble Valley areas of Lancashire. The core goal will be to continue to support parents who are struggling to cope with everyday family life and have at least one child under five or are expecting a child. Volunteers will visit families’ homes regularly to provide both practical and emotional support, with the aim of empowering the parents to make changes to deal with their difficulties rather than create dependency.
