The funding will be used for an end to end support service for refugees and asylum seekers in Tees Valley – specifically Middlesbrough Stockton and Redcar.The Ariadne Partnership between Open Door North East (ODNE) Methodist Asylum Project (MAP) Justice First (JF) Refugee Futures (RF) and The British Red Cross (BRC) seeks to continue to provide wide ranging support to asylum seekers from the moment they are dispersed to The Tees Valley (primarily Stockton Middlesbrough and Redcar and Cleveland) and throughout the asylum process. The Ariadne Partnership has had a hugely significant impact on the effectiveness of asylum and refugee services across the local area. The respective organisations work in close daily contact frequently referring clients between services and performing joint casework wherever necessary. Delivering the partnership in this way has enabled building a supportive circle around clients and in turn the organisations are able to develop and focus on what each do best. The success of this approach has underlined the continued need for this type of local delivery and the partnership are therefore seeking to extend and expand the model. By working together in this way this ensures local asylum seekers are best able to develop and thrive in their new communities and cope with the increasingly difficult challenges of seeking asylum in the UK.
