Both our programmes build skills and confidence, improve health and well being and build social networks for women and girls. Learning Outcomes for the freedom programme: participants will 1. be enabled to identify what underpins the manifested behaviour of those living with or are affected by domestic abuse 2. understand the far reaching impacts domestic abuse has had on them as victims or survivors and will improve capacity to make safe and healthy choices in relationships 3. be enabled to have a better understanding of tactics used by their perpetrator/s 4. be enabled to have a better understanding of the impact of societies myths and stereotypes 5. be enabled to identify and then explore manifested behaviours 6. understand the beliefs held by abusive men and in so doing recognise which of these beliefs they have shared 7. gain self esteem and the confidence to improve the quality of their lives 8. understand the effects of domestic abuse on their children 9. recognise potential future abusers 10. introduce women to community resources Learning Outcomes for the Recovery programme: 1). to positively change how you perceive yourself (self-esteem and self-image) 2). to encourage the development of strategies to help women cope with emotional pain 3). to recognise the effects of abuse on children, encouraging women to develop positive parenting skills to positively change how they interact with others 4). to set individual goals and action planning 5). to give individuals the knowledge needed to enable them to move forward in their lives and develop healthy relationships 6). People will be identified, supported and protected irrespective of their assessed level of risk at the point of referral. Support will include assessment and management of risk, safety planning, one to one sessions and recovery support in a group environment. It will cover a range of individual issues identified that could include education, housing, employment and court support.

HARV in East Lancashire currently receives more referrals each week for young people who are experiencing domestic abuse that they can provide for. The grant will extend the provision available ensuring that young people aged 11 and upwards are able to get the support they need through a specialist independent advocate. The project will work at crisis points to reduce the risk of significant harm and will provide programmes that aim to break the cycle of abuse, and enable the young people to move on to safe, violence-free futures.

This project aims to increase the safety of domestic violence victims across East Lancashire.This funding would enable HARV to continue to provide frontline workers that address the safety of women and children who are at risk of serious harm. This project will provide support in relation to court hearings and representation at risk assessment conferences. One to one support will address needs like housing, drug & alcohol issues, parenting skills, immigration, counselling and civil justice remedies.
