The projects will be aimed ....more Stop Hate UK will run 2 x youth community ambassador projects in Rotherham (group 1) and Kirklees (group 2), engaging with up to 20 youths (minimum of 10) in each group. The projects will be aimed towards White British youths between the ages of 11 and 13, who are most susceptible to far-right ideology and engaging in hateful activity as a result of exposure to negative/discriminatory attitudes and beliefs. After recruitment of ambassadors, Stop Hate UK would run a 6 week programme raising cultural awareness and addressing community tensions that have developed as a result of attitudes and beliefs surrounding historical local issues. Stop Hate UK will work with small, local organisations who currently seek to address these issues to provide a cohesive programme, bringing interventionists together. Each session will be hosted by Stop Hate UK, using the input of local organisations to raise awareness of cultures, identify shared values, challenge negative attitudes and myth bust cultural stereotyping to build stronger, cohesive communities. Additionally, each session will conclude with ways a young ambassador can safely challenge or report hateful activity to make their community a safe and cohesive place to live. The project would be concluded with a joint celebration with interventionists, youth ambassadors and adults involved in their upbringing. The celebration would include the showing of a documentary covering the project activities (including interviews with ambassadors), discussion around the impact of values and beliefs on young people and risk of acting on these beliefs. The celebration event will conclude with an award ceremony. The project would seek to challenge and change negative beliefs of the ambassadors in a safe environment. However, it will have a wider impact on adults attending the celebration event and ambassador's peers who will be learn through shared experience.
