Primary Objective would be 1) Build skills and confidence. Stepping Forward will build on the skills the women would have already developed during the Recovery Programme, we all need time to develop and learn from different people during different times in our life and this group will provide the extended time and introduce new skills. Upon completion of a programme plan we would expect to see short, mid and longer term outcomes achieved. An increase in knowledge; attendees will learn what services are available to support them including child care, how to apply the skills they already have and how to present themselves and the new skills they will learn. It is expected that emotionally they will demonstrate improved coping strategies, reduction in isolation, improved relationships with family and friends, improvement in confidence, assertiveness and self-worth and an improved sense of optimism about what the future hold for them. We would expect to see behavioural changes such as a reduction in repeat abusive relationships, women progressing with a reduced level of support and demonstrating the initiative to seek out new positive opportunities. In the mid to longer term we would expect to see attendees accessing training grants, entering or re-entering the workplace, having access to a higher income than they previously had and being able to manage their money better. With improved knowledge and confidence we would expect to see more opportunities open up for women on Step Forward. Barriers, real or perceived, will be removed and they will have access to training and/or employment opportunities they may not have considered before. With regards to their own health and well-being we would hope to see a measurable improvement in their mental health, improved engagement with mental health services and a reduction in symptoms of anxiety and trauma.
