The funding will be used to contribute to creating a new production based around internet safety for children and young people. The project will be delivered to 10 community venues in February 2023 tying in with interest safety week. The productions will cover grooming/chatting cyberbullying photo messaging and gaming which typically affects children and young people. Delivered in Dudley and West Midlands the project aims to inform children and young people how to use the internet safely.

In Their Shoes is a Theatre in Education Primary school project which involves a 45 minute dramatic story performed by 4 professional actors followed by a 45 minute interactive workshop. It addresses the British Values, friendship in diversity and community cohesion. In Their Shoes tells the story about the Spots and the Stripes who have always hated each other because they are different. After a heated argument the Stripe sets out to find people who can help her stand up to the Spot. As she journeys she meets characters who tell her stories from different cultures and religions about how it is possible to get along despite being different. The play and workshop weave in the British Values in a fun and engaging way and sensitively incorporate a theme of extremism and the potential dangers. We have devised a child friendly subtitle for each value, see below, in order to engage and education the children in a meaningful way. Democracy - I HAVE A VOICE The Rule of Law - I WILL FOLLOW THE RULES Individual Liberty - I HAVE A CHOICE Mutual Respect for and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs and for those without faith - I WILL RESPECT AND ACCEPT OTHERS With an ethnically diverse cast of actors the play is itself an example of what can be achieved when different people come together and use their abilities for the same goal. The play and workshop are suitable for primary school aged children in key stage 1 and 2. The aims are to inspire friendship and kindness in diversity, give insight into the dangers of racism and extremism and give the clear message that we are stronger when we live and work together, embracing and celebrating our differences.
