How do they operate?

Young Explorers and Leadership Training Programmes

Objectives: To advance the education of young people by providing challenging scientific expeditions at wild and remote environments

Intervention period: Expeditions typically last 2-5 weeks

Beneficiaries: Young people aged 16-25

Description: Programmes are led by volunteers who act as guides and role models to young people. They are taken to outdoor environments and given the chance to development their confidence, teamwork, leadership and spirit of adventure and exploration. Involvement in scientific research and media projects encourages them to gain key skills and overcome the challenges of expeditions run in a range of countries.
